I primarily tutor GCSE Science (in whichever format you are studying it – double or triple – and whichever specification you are studying; while I am more familiar with AQA and OCR, I am more than happy to explore and get to grips with others as well) and A-level Chemistry and Physics.
I am also happy to tutor younger students, availability permitting.
My fee is £35 per hour for all individual sessions, regardless of the level of qualification being tutored, with a standard tutoring session lasting 1 hour.
I normally tutor from my home in Kidlington, however there may be circumstances where I am able to travel to you, time permitting – set up an initial meeting with me and we can discuss your needs and take it from there.
I also offer discounted rates (per head) for sessions with 2-3 students, so if you wish you can get together with a friend and save some money having tutoring together. (This can be a really good plan – sharing ideas and having someone to discuss things with is a good way to get the most out of your learning, especially if you plan to go over what has been covered in each tutoring session as a group afterwards.) Please do feel free to discuss this with me at our initial meeting.
Intensive Revision, Catch-Up, or Refresher Sessions
Sometimes you might want a bit of intensive extra help – either as one of my regular tutees or as a one off. The most common reason for this is pre-exam revision, either before final exams or school-set mock exams, however maybe you’ve missed a bit of school and need to catch up, or need a refresher after a break (particularly at the end of the summer, before going back in September).
I offer half-day sessions during both school holiday time and term time, availability permitting. Sessions are 3.5 hours (either morning or afternoon, including a break in the middle), and can be tailored to your needs. A revision session, for example, might begin with a recap of core information, then look at particular areas which the student has identified as finding challenging, before moving on to exam technique.
The increased demand from the new GCSE Science specifications includes some very technical content, as well as the replacement of the ‘coursework’ component with exam-assessed practicals. I am happy to work with small classes of home-schooled students (up to 10 students) – please get in touch to discuss the needs of your group.
Rates for home-schooling groups will depend on the individual needs of the group, and will be discussed as part of your initial meeting.
